To run through the typical alleyways and the old walls gives a particularly taste of old days life thanks to the magic atmosphere created by the wonderful arcades. In fact Cava de' Tirreni is the only southern town to have arcades! So it is possible to go out shopping or for a walk also in unfavourable weather conditions without the umbrella in your way!

The Borgo Scacciaventi

Situated in the heart of the country, the wonderful arcade is one of the characteristics of Cava de' Tirreni. Characterized by a street flanked by round arches and historic houses, it's an excellent example of architecture. Not to be missed is a walk through the arcades to admire their architectural beauty, but also to be lost in the suggestive shop windows that follow one another without a break in a delightful atmosphere.

THE BENEDECTINE ABBEY OF THE HOLY TRINITY

On the highest point of Cava de'Tirreni rises up the imposing Badia, also called "Corpo di Cava", which origins date back to the year one thousand.

The church is a real sight of marbles and mosaics. In the convent, a picture gallery and a library hold on to paintings and manuscripts unique in the world that rouse the interest of many experts, researchers and visitors.

Art lovers can't remain indifferent to the magic of DUOMO SQUARE, where it rises up the sixteenth-century cathedral and the artistic DOLPHINS' FOUNTAIN, made by the sculptor Alfonso Balzico, and to the majesty of ST FRANCIS SQUARE and its sixteenth-century church "Madonna dell'Olmo".

Nearby the Hotel Pineta Castello, on a green hill, it rises up the medieval stronghold "ST. ADIUTORE", a strategic point to lose oneself in contemplation over the city's beauty.

Thanks to its landscape conformation, the metellian valley offers a variety of naturalistic itineraries, such as the wildlife reserve of "Diecimare", protected by WWF, or the long walking excursion to the Sanctuary "Avvocatella", situated more than 800 meters above sea level!
